Miyawaki Botanical Forest Initiative by DHA Multan; Planting for Tomorrow

On Wednesday, February 16, the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Multan inaugurated Miyawaki Botanical Forest and initiated a Mega Spring Plantation Drive. It is a significant step towards regional environmental sustainability. The Prime Minister and Advisors to Federal Ministers attended the inauguration ceremony and actively participated by planting trees in the Association's M Zone. This program seeks to work from February 15 to March 31 in 2022 as part of a wider membership in improving the natural environment, emphasizing the necessity of including the general population in forest recovery.

A Vision for a Greener Future

The Miyawaki technique is invented by Japanese Botanist Akira Miyawaki. He had a plan to establish thick or natural woods in a short period of time. This strategy entails planting a diverse range of natural plants in a limited area. Accordingly, it helps enhance biodiversity and build a sustainable environment. DHA Multan has implemented this revolutionary technique to increase green cover in the neighborhood while promoting awareness about environmental protection.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Federal Minister appreciated the DHA's efforts in environmental conservation activities and highlighted the importance of such projects in fighting climate change and creating a healthy living environment. DHA's efforts reflect a growing understanding among Pakistan's leaders of the need for sustainable development, especially in major urban areas.

These initiatives will not only help improve urban areas, but will also play a key role in improving biodiversity, reducing heat and improving air quality. It is planned by DHA Multan to plant 2.5 million trees in the coming five years that is around 300,000 trees per year.
